tumblr & or html - when using <p> or <br> how do you do MORE than one .. well, press of enter, a new line?

'cause it only seems to work once no matter how many times i put it in
like if i put <p>*text*</p> then
<p></p>
<p>*text,rahrahrah*</p>

it wouldn't do the space i put in the middle :/ idk how to insert a blank line. help? thx..
