Trying to troubleshoot a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4243N. updated firmware, restarted no luck?

Also found a website that had an auomatic registry fixer so I ran that and it found two entries it deleted but still no luck. The drive doesn't recognize a CD at all. Explorer says there are files to write but when I say write it says the CD is busy.
