Trying to transfer to another college financial aid?

i'm trying to transfer to another school that is closer by my house because i moved and the school i was attending and it was to far for me. i only completed 2 classes at my school my next semester doesnt star until january 4 i dropped out already of the school so i could transfer. but now the financial aid office of the school i was attending are telling me they already received money for my next semester and they are trying to find out if now i have a balance with the school im so confused, because they cant give money back to the government for the classes i didnt take this semester? can someone pls help, if i didnt complete this semester because im transfering schools will i have a problem with financial aid.
