I am a 38 bravo, Civil Affairs Specialist in the US Army reserves. I completed all of my initial entry training on Feb 20th. After signing into my unit, I immediately made my intentions of switching to active duty clear. My unit told me i could not for at least two years, seeing as my contract for the reserves was for six. Next, I volunteered to go with any understrength civil affairs battalion in the country who needed people. Despite the need, i was rejected by three separate battalions because i am not yet and E-4 or have any prior experience.
My question is, is there anything i can do to actually switch to active duty, or expedite going on a tour?
