I'm trying to remember this quote from an early American author, but I don't know the exact quote or who wrote it. I think he was in a rivalry with some other author at the time who used lots of long fancy words. So he wrote an essay and in it was a quote about not using fancy words when simple old words can be better used. At least, that's how I remember it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
