Okay, I read this book in elementary school, maybe around 5-6th grade.
It takes place in a made up land, maybe around in the middle ages (there's no "modern" inventions yet), and follows a girl,maybe older teen, that is royalty but she's being persued because of some revolution or something. But her allies call her "dove" or "white dove" when refering to her in secret. at some point she bleaches her hair to further her disguise.
