Trying to program a transponder key for 2005 Toyota corolla?

I misplaced a space key for my 2005 toyota. Unfortunately it's one of those cars with a special chip inside and I was quoted over $100 to replace. I can get a spare uncut key off ebay, but I was wondering if anyone has tried those instructions off places like ehow on programming the key yourself?

I don't want to pay $70 for the dealer to program, but I heard this can mess up the engine and don't want to do that either!

Any help appreciated.
