Trying to join the U.S. Army, but there's a problem?

Roughly a year ago I tried enlisting in the U.S. Army, everything was going fine, I scored well on the asvab (86), and my paperwork was being put through by my recruiter, however, since I mentioned I had 2 prior Pneumothoraces (Left lung collapsed spontaneously for no reason), I was eventually Permanently Disqualified by the MEPs Doctor, I've had corrective surgery to prevent this from happening again, at least without major trauma that would collapse a lung anyway. Since then I've had civilian Pulmonologists review me and sign notes that I'm fine, and I am, this problem dosnt impede by breathing at all. However, since they are civilians, the military wont even give a second glance, my question is how do I go about requesting a review by a military doctor to eventually get a waiver, maybe something like a PFT to prove it to them, or I've been suggested that I wait a while then go back, this time not disclosing the information since it dosnt bother me, but Im not sure if the DQ is on my records permanently, can anyone shed some light on either approach or offer a new one?
