trying to help my friend that is in jail get out, long but intresting story.?

My best firend sara had a boyfriend named sean (not real names) and he ALWAYS accused her of cheating on him and she never was, they always fought and he always put his hands on her, he raped her once before, even when she got someones business card, he got upset and they got into an argument over it. he was VERY controlling and me and her family could see that she was stressed out over it. on the forth of july they got into an argument again, this time they were under the influence of drugs and alcohol so she was holding his gun and she shot him downtown and later at the hospital he died, she's in jail for 3rd degree and voluntary manslaughter is there a way we can get her out on insanity? or possibly anything at all? i really miss her and really wana help her she's been emotionally going through alot thoruought her years she says she's been physically and emotionally abused but i dont know how she cant really talk in jail and she says she doesnt remember anything that happened because she was drunk and stuff so if there is ANYONE that can tell me something can you please get back to me as soon as possible,? thank you so much

it is unusual that someone gets off scott free after shooting someone. manslaughter is a pretty low charge already, for shooting someone. maybe she can plea to a lesser charge. maybe there is a case for self defense.
 
If you dont have money for a attorney, go to the attonrey that defended her before. Explain everything that you saw..the rape, physical and mental abuse..everything. Then ask the attorney to file for a sentence modification for a reduced sentence. If the attorney is unwilling to do this, then you can write the judge yourself explaining everything you saw, and ask if he'd consider granting a sentence modification hearing in her case. Thats about the best advice i can give you girl, hope it helps.
