Trying to connect my desktop to wireless network?

using a linksys wireless-g pci adapter and a belkin wireless router model f5d7234-4 v 4 When I try connecting it just doesnt connect, I can see the network I'm looking for when I press View Available Wireless Networks, but I just can't get it to connect. I don't really know anything about the linksys adapter, it's just what was on the desktop at another location and now it's been brought here. Any help would be great. Thanks
