I've written several posts about the Pentagon undercounting the number of U.S. troop deaths. Virtually no one here on Yahoo has agreed with me. I finally have some vindication,I think. The true number of troop deaths is at least 44,000 not 4,000 like this government wants you to believe! This is one of the main reasons behind the Pentagon not allowing casket photos!

Check out this article & tell me what you think:

Here are the figures I have heard and these are all I can think of:
1. number of American troops that have died in Iraq: 4036

2. number of Iraqi civilians dead: Anywhere between 90,000 and 1,000,000

3. number of Iraqis detained by US and Coalition forces: About 20,000 supposedly

4. number of Iraqis in the Awakening Councils also known as Concerned Local Citizens: Between 70,000 and 80,000

5. number of Iraqi troops in Iraqi army: Between 130,000 and 140,000

6. number of troops in Al Sadr's Mahdi Army: About 60,000

7. number of international troops (non US) that have died from the Iraq war: According to an article I just read it is 304

8. number of refugees inside Iraq that have a new home now in Iraq with their own sect of Islam solely: About 2 million

9. number of refugees outside Iraq: About 2.5 million

10. cost of the war so far: Between 1 trillion and 2 trillion dollars total

11. Cost per day in Iraq currently: supposedly it is close to 1 billion (can not be confirmed though at all so don't take this as complete fact)

12. number of US troops wounded in Iraq: 29,780
