truck problems (1987 ford f150)?

i have a 1987 ford f150 manual with 2 gas tanks, yesterday i was driving to school using the front gas tank, and it suddenly felt like every time i pushed on the gas there was no power at all, right after that it died and i was only able to get it started a few times after that. to me it seemed like it wasnt getting any gas to the motor so i replaced the fuel filter. still didnt start now im thinking it might be one of the fuel pumps but i dont wanna replace them if i dont need to. the front tank is fairly new it was replaces a few years ago along with the pump and the back tank is all original im not sure if there is another pump on the frame infront of the fuel filter. any kinda help woulld be great
