Tropical Storm Nadine formed in the Atlantic Ocean overnight, but experts said it poses no threat to the United States.
Nadine, the 14th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, was expected to strengthen and could become a hurricane by Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center. It would be the eighth hurricane.
Nadine was in the mid Atlantic and moving west-northwest at about 17 mph early Wednesday, experts said. Its tropical storm strength winds of 45 mph extended up to 45 miles from the storm's center.
It is expected to turn north and continue to head into open waters, the hurricane center forecast.
