Tron sequel has begun filming: Details, and first set pic.

Tron (or TR2N, TRZ, Tron2.0 or maybe even Tron2)

Is stated as being the most expensive movie ever made with a budget of $300m! (what recession?) Is going to blow us all away!

Short plot synopsis from production weekly...

(awful qualtiy but still gives me goosebumps and when 'the dude' appears, well the audience reaction says it all. HELL YEAH:cool:
Going.to.be.friggin.awesome.

Link and Piccie.

P.S. I'm a fan of the original. Can you tell? :D

Me too!

I understand your concerns. i think the worst thing that could happen is they churn out Speed racer on bikes, or just a tech demo, but at this early stage my faith is still firmly intact.

*crosses fingers*

Oh god, Speed Racer on bikes??

I never thought of it that way. I feel sick. :(

Fingers crossed that Hollywood actually makes a worthy sequel to this cult classic and not one of your typical Hollywood poo fests, and that it's not High School Musical meets Blade Runner.

For me, whilst the original is undoubtedly a very impressive light show for its time, there isn't much more to it than that.

IF they have a stronger story / script for this one then it could turn out to be one of the better and more easily justifiable sequels.

I agree. I have always wondered why this film has long since been held in such high regard by many. The story is pretty flat, and considering it is a children's film, very, very dull and (for me anyway who was just a kid when it came out) nigh on impossible to fathom??

The CG bits were obviously unique and ahead of time though, but lightcycle bits aside, a complete turkey. The solar sailer (?) bit especially was just boring

$300 million is very unrealistic. That probably doesn't even include marketing costs. They're taking a big chance with this, i just hope it pays off for them.

ooooooooooo good work boxx

I love the original Tron and had worried that it would have been remade by now *phew* but a second film is always going to be welcomed.

I'm afraid to say that no matter what they do and how much they spend, this film is inevitably going to disappoint most fans, partly because of the brilliance of the first film and partly because Tron is, despite a 'futuristic' look, an 80's feeling movie which appeals itself to the fans of films from that era. Of which i am one.

Despite my worries i know i will enjoy this film no matter what as it would be a shame to not delve further into the computer world of Tron.

"On the other side of the screen, it all looks so easy."

Bring it on :D:D

I had fond memories of watching Tron as a teenager.

I watched it again when it was being broadcast recently and, oh my God, it was dire.

One for the fanboys only and a massive loss-maker for Disney, I reckon.

the original tron was disqualifyed from being nominated for a best special effects oscar because they said by using a computer to do the effects was cheating.

No you're not the only fan of it. I loved it as a kid. I remember the family rented the video of it. sadly it was always a cult film and never really got the success the film deserved!! Ironically released in the same year as the other great sci fi flop(in box office terms I mean) Bladerunner. People wanted the safe and fluffy sci fi like ET!!

I am a bit worried that the sequel might not live up to the original!! But hey I am looking forward to it!
