Man! i brought trazodone up with my doctor too. Everything i heard about is has been great, Even from psychs who prescribe it. My doctor said she didn't like it though and didn't prescribe it for me. I don't get why! why can't i atleast try it? it's non habit forming, and i heard some people even bite off a little piece during the day and it helsp ease their anxiety.

On a side note i think i need to stop the buspar. Like 20 minutes after taking it i get hot flashes REALLY bad and they wont go away. I just start sweating and feeling really hot.

over the counter, called simply sleep. My anxiety has been so bad i pretty much have had full blown insomnia now for a year. Took 2 simply sleeps last night at like 10 pm. Went to lay down and couldn't fall asleep, got back up and was up until 1 am, didn't get tired or anything. Finally fell asleep at around 4 am and woke up every hour after that and finally gave up and just got out of bed at 9 am.

So yea, yet another failure in the medication department.

I seem to sleep throughout the night though after a few beers. My guess is cause i don't overthink or worry about anything then.

If your having trouble sleeping do to anxiety what I would reccommend would be going on clonazepam which helps in the treatment for anxiety and insomnia. I was on it and it worked like a charm. You'd have to see a doctor for a prescription though. And you'd have to obviously explain your symptoms and who knows maybe they might suggest something else.

Whenever I bring up a med with the pdoc there like nope were not doing it. I suppose they have there reasons but comer on at least tell me why its not worth a shot.

Thats what sucks though. If i get put on something like that i want to just take that for my anxiety. I'm already taking two other pills. I just want to be put on a benzo and thats it. But for some reason doctors always feel the need to hit you up with the double and get you on a anti-depressant with it. it's like ... what the heck? it's a proven fact that people with anxiety need benzos. I don't care how addictive they are! they care about that, but don't care about the 5th of jack they are drinking every night to feel normal.

Sorry, i missed this post earlier. Right now just propranolol 40 mg twice a day and buspar 20 mg twice a day, along with omega 3 fish oil supplements. Been off effexor for around 3 weeks now.

Yah I'm on omega 3 as well. pdoc says its the best thing you'll ever be on. lol

I tried simply sleep first too, it didn't work for me, my mind still would not shut up, i got put on trazodone yesterday, and it seems to be working well.

Yea, i been taking them for years now, it's good stuff.

I'm going to give the simply sleep another go tonight, but this time i'm going to stay in bed no matter what and not get up if i can't fall asleep. lol i say that now but i know i'll end up on the couch watching TV until 5 in the morning. Or maybe i should just take it and lay on the couch until i feel tired, then shut off the TV and go to bed.

it's gotta be the propranolol thats causing the insomnia.

Also, i'm going back to the doctor this week, cause i really do feel terrible with these hot flashes i'm getting right after taking the buspar. I just start sweating for no reason. I hate to admit it too, but i do feel worse off the effexor LOL. I'm not going back on it though. I'm either going to try zoloft or prozac, leaning more towarRAB zoloft since thats usually prescribed for social anxiety.

it's weird though how the effexor made those hot flashes i had go away, they were like adrenaline surges of stress. Since zoloft is also prescribed for OCD hopefully it will do the same. I'm not going back on effexor again though. Hopefully i can get a benzo to help me sleep too, thing is though all the times in the past i told her i didn't wnat to take benzos, now i have to make it like it's my only option.. Dude i need to finRAB a DAMN psych around here, the ones in my health plan are like an hour a way and the wait list is insane. But they are so much better at prescribing meRAB! but i do my research when bringing up what to try with my doc, they just don't work lol. Whats also good is if i did get meRAB from a psych i would probably have to wait like 3 months to go see them again and get off/change my meRAB, whereas with my doc i can get an appointment whenever.

I'm on the propanolol for BP spikes due to my anxiety, racing heart, sweating. it actually used in treating anxiety disorders as well as BP.

BUT i know if i got on something like a benzo i would most likely not even need it anymore, cause that would work to calm me down.
