Trick a desktop into thinking it is connected to a mobile data network such as AT&T?

I want to trick my desktop computer into thinking its internet connection is that of a mobile carrier such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, O2, etc. Not necessarily the actual computer but the applications that access the internet.

More precisely, I want to mask my cable internet connection to appear as though it is a mobile data network.
