I have been on birth control for 3 months and this month on my third pack i got a uti infection and had to take antibiotics. How long do I have to wait for the antibiotics to wear off?? My boyfriend ejeculated in me and I am starting last week of my pack, am I safe or could I be pregnant?

You should have been instructed to use a second form of birth control because antibiotics can lessen the effect of the birth control pill.
In terms of whether or not you are pregnant. I think that you will need to wait and see. You should also maybe take a reliable pregnancy test before you start your next pack. You might want to request a pregnancy blood test to be on the safe side.

Hi. I agree with Shisslak. She gave good advice mentioning that you should have been educated on using secondary precautions while taking the antibiotic and maybe considering a pregnancy test before taking more contraceptives. Two weeks after your final does is questionable. Depending on the antiobiotic you took, it could stay in your system for a short or longer period of time. The half life ( the lenght of time it takes for half of the antibiotic dose to be eliminated from your system) can be from hours to days. For instance Penicillin taken oral has a half life of 2.5 hours and if injected it has a 14 day half life. Good luck and take care. Alice
