Treo 600 Question?

I recently bought 2 palm treo 600's(I know a bit old but they fit my purposes) unlocked for cricket.
I got this one:

They are both the exactly the same phone, I just noticed that the first one is advertised with "absolutely no web, and if'y text messaging" while the second one advertises working text and web. Any idea why this might me? Could it be a simple alteration of settings, or would it require a completely new flash?

The ESN I was given, and the one i find by dialing #*#000000 shows ESN has letters in it, but cricket says it must be an 11 digit nuraber, no letters??
