traveling, cellphone, sim card?

I live in US and I have iphone-- at&t Monthly bill-- simcard . Now can I just buy a prepaid simcard from Vodafone if i go to Europe and just buy refills? i think thats cheaper... what do you guys think??
When I come back I just keep the vodafone sim card until the next time i go to europe..
 
just call at&t and ask them if the iphone will work with another sim card..if they say no..then they might just say that to make you pay. so just try it. or call vodaphone and ask them if te sim cards will work with iphones.
