We had an RV for years and loved it, a Class A. When the price of gas went up to $4 we sold it.
A few lessons we learned were...never let the black water (sewage) tank get completely empty and clean it often. If the camper will sit for some time be sure the water in the tank is clean and use a good quality "blue water" additive. You can buy this at RV or boating supply stores. Large RV centers are the best for buying the type of equipment you'll need. Don't scrimp here or you will never get the sewage smell out of your camper.
If you live in a cold area you will need to winterize the camper before there is a freeze at night. If you don't the pipes will burst (just like in a home) and will be expensive to replace.
As far as paper products. I don't care for the "safe" products you get at RV stores, they are extremely expensive and not absorbent so you end up using more than you would with regular toilet paper. If you're concerned about regular paper in your tank or when you dump the tank then have a little trash bag next to the toilet and throw used paper in the bag, not in the tank.
I'll see if I can find some sites we used for help. Basically we just started camping and we would ask fellow campers for help. You'll find that people that RV/Camper camp are REALLY nice people and are always willing to help someone new at camping. Have fun!
