Travel Money Cards? Are they really worth the hassle?

I am going away to spain in a few weeks time. is it worth getting a travel money card? or is it better off to bring cash? i don't like the idea of going to the ATM where they charge you to take your own money out, seems a bit stupid to me that I have to pay for something that i own already. if TMC are really that useful :S which ones should i be looking at? thanks
