Travel backpacks without the daypack in front?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking to buy a backpack for traveling, but can't seem to find any that don't have that annoying little daypack piggybacking at the front :-) To clarify, I'm not looking for one of those top-loading rucksacks people take on hikes and the like, but more for a good, solid backpack of the sort they usually recommend for students traveling to europe and stuff like that; definitely something with a front opening, where you can open it and pack it much like a suitcase. Kinda like this: http://www.eaglecreek.com/bags_luggage/adventure_travel_packs/Explorer-LT-Womens-Fit-10048/ without the beastly daypack. Also, it should be carry-on size (even if it's near the limits), and just a backpack--no wheels! Finally, it would be really, really good if it were designed to work well for women--ie with a wide hip belt and narrower shoulder straps--because while the shoulder straps are generally ok on me on the regular packs (I'm tall, and pretty broad through the shoulder), the hip belt is too small if it's guy-sized!

Any suggestions?
