Hello,

Can someone tell me if it is dangerous to drive my Honda Odyssey Automatic van with a slipping transmission? It has never been maintained and it has 176,000 miles on it. I don't have the money to repair it so I don't know how long it will last or how dangerous it is to drive. Right now it seems to only slip on lower gears...about 30 miles an hour or less.

"It has never been maintained"

Blame the owner for being a retard.

"with a slipping transmission?"

Still blame the owner.

"I don't know how long it will last or how dangerous it is to drive"

The owner didn't seem to care about maintaining it, so why would it matter if it's now dangerous?

To answer the question bluntly, yes, it's dangerous. If your trans goes out, while on a highway, and you are unable to coast to safety, you're going to die.

Or when going around a corner, you'll slam into a tree.

Or into a ditch.

Etc and so forth.

So find the owner of the car, and bitch slap them into next week for taking poor maintenance of the vehicle.
