transmission problems 2002 dodge grand caravan?

just about 100,000 miles Engine light has been on. When put in gear engine races but just wont go anywhere. I say trans. Have you heard this? ___ My wife heard if your battery is low this will affect the trans. She says you will need to replace the battery. I say not. Everything goes on ok and the lights are bright. I dont think it is the battery. What do you think? Thanks
 
the battery has nothing to do with the transmission. you say once you drop it in gear it won,t move? change the transmission fluid and filter. it sounds like the filter is plugged.
 
its not the battery ,you can drive that vehicle with a bad battery and it wont make the transmission slip on it,its the tranny gone bad or is low on fluid,replacing the battery is not going to make it move out of its tracks,if that were the case i wouldn't have had to spend 2 grand for a new transmission a while back,good luck with it,
