My father noticed that my check engine light came on along with the D4 light flashing. I took the car to a mechanic who ran a diagnostic and said that it came back with a malfunctioning solenoid and that the tranny fluid is brown which, combined, means that it's more than the solenoid.
I just took the car to a transmission shop for a second opinion. I haven't heard back from them yet, but should I brace myself for a necessary overhaul/rebuilt transmission?
For further reference, it's a V6 with about 135,000 miles on it.
The car doesn't exhibit any other strange anomolies. It shifts in and out of every gear just fine, there's no burn smell either.
