Transformer's movie contrition? possible spoiler!

when "Fox" cuts off the head of Frenzy he still lives and continues in the movie, but O' Prime rips the head off Bonecrusher and he is dead....

so does removing the head kill or not?
 
well, optimus stuck his sword straight through bonecrushers head, and then chopped it off, I think.

I also think it's possible Frenzy's spark is in his head rather than his body so he could survive as just a head... tank?
