Transferring my number from Alltel/Verizon to Straight Talk?

Tomorrow I am buying a Straight Talk phone and I'm currently under a Verizon/Alltel contract. I am going to have to pay $175 to get out of my contract. I want to keep the same number and Straight Talk's website says I can, I just want to know how I need to go about it. Anyone know how long it will take? Thanks.
