Transferring AVI files to TX

I'm having some issues doing this. I like to watch cartoons on the way to work on the bus. I shrink them down using special software, they're usually 50-60mb apiece, I have a 1gb SD card so that's not a problem. But when I try to drag them into the Quick Install screen they error out, it says the full file is there but there's a little questionmark and when I sync them it doesn't work.

I do have TCMP so it should recognize that I can play AVI files, right??
Anyone have suggestions?

You should first make sure that you have all the applicable plugins for TCPMP. As for transferring the vid files, I recommend that you buy a card reader/writer, if you don't already have one (they are very cheap, got mines for ten bucks). It's much easier to transfer vid files through the reader/writer than to use Palm's software. Why? Because the it takes too long to transfer the file to Quick Install, and then your Palm takes forever to sync when you plug it in. The software also has the tendency to chop up files if they are a certain size, no good.
 
In lieu of a 'card reader' you can download an app called "Card Export II". It turns your TX into a card reader. It causes your SD card to show up as a volume on your computer's desktop. Then you simply drag files onto or off of this 'volume' (SD card). It also appears to work just as fast as a regular card reader. Plus it saves the wear and tear of swapping your SD card in and out of the TX and the card reader.
 
I will not pay for software to do this.

I have a card reader, but I just moved and I'm not sure which box it's in. I guess no cartoons til I figure it out. :/

You could try a freeware program called PFB. There should be 2 apps, one for your Palm and one for your PC. Run them both and you get an explorer-like interface on your PC that you can use to drag and drop files. It seems a lot quicker than Hotsync (what isn't?) but I'm sure not as fast as a card reader.

I just tried it, PFB puts them as directories instead of files.

Really, it's like the Palm thinks I can't play avi files.
But it can, I doublechecked my TCMP plugins and everything. :(
