Transfering pictures from PC onto E62 & Caller ID

I know this is probably a basic, simple question, but I am having trouble finding the answer.

I want to use the photo caller ID feature of the phone for about 10 of my contacts. In Outlook, I currently have images assigned to a few of my contacts. When i synch'd my E62 in PC Suite, those images appear in my address book as very small pictures. However, they do not appear when that person calls me.

It only shows a phone number on the caller ID (not "home" or "Mary" etc.)

So I did a look around on the phone's help and saw you have to "add a thumbnail" which brings me to a graphic downloader.

I assume I put the pictures I want, that are on my PC right now as JPGs, onto my phone as thumbnails. My guess is that I have to use the Nokia PC Suite and then synch / transfer them to the phone.

In step by step, how do I do that? Do I put the pics into the File Manager on the PC Suite on my computer, then transfer? Will the graphic images go to the area they have to so they show up as Thumbnails to select?

I do not have a mini-SD card, so I assume they will be stored on the phone.

Lastly, for the contacts I don't want to have photo caller ID, how do I get the phone to show the name of the person calling? In settings, I see it says turn on voice name, but from what I read, that is not what I want.

Thanks

In PC Suite, there's a "Store Images" app. Use that to get your pics to your phone. I would highly suggest getting a miniSD card, btw....

IIRC, I thought the name showed on the caller ID as long as the number was stored to only 1 contact. If you have the same phone # for more than 1 contact, the phone won't display it.

Thanks... Yes, I will get a mini-SD card. Also, I guess that is why my home phone is not showing up in the caller ID. It shows the phone number, but it does not say "home" on the screen or show the photo ID picture. I put in my wife's cell phone with her name and when I tried that, it showed her name, picture and phone number.

Once I get the mini-SD card, I only need to transfer the photos over to it correct? Right now, I only have a few photos in the phone and all are around 50kb. But I know stuff adds up. But will it be easy enough to simply transfer that stuff over to the card once I get it?

I do have another question.... I used my SIM card from my old Razr with Cingular. I had some contacts stored there. I found them using the menu and looking at stored SIM contacts or whatever it says. I went ahead and copied them all to my address book so I essentially don't have "two" phone books. Is that the thing to do? I am afraid now I may have some duplicate contacts in Outlook, but I guess it's easier to go through them on the laptop and clean that up, then resync.

I think you can just transfer them in the file manager through PC Suite.

Not sure I'm understanding your SIM question, but someone who does will undoubtedly come along soon. These forums are VERY helpful!

I gotta play around with the file manager. I am currently using my Windows XP explorer and just copying pics from my laptop into the folder for PC Suite (directory pictures). Then they are copied onto phone during Sync into the image directory.

I did find, when I copied my SIM card directory into my address book, when I synch'd Outlook, I got all my SIM entries into my Outlook. So I am going through that now and editing or deleting duplicate entries.

One other suggestion to help transfer files to-and-from your PC - When you get a storage card, also get a card reader. They're about $10-15 and (IMO) are faster and overall better than transferring via phone software.

I already have a multi-card reader. My Treo took a regular SD and I still need it for a CF and another card for my digital cameras. It does have a slot of the mini-SD.
