I have a question about account transfer's

I have my own place and want to take over my dad's account....he is contract free and owns all 5 of his recievers that i would take then sell as im gona go HD...He is going back to starchoice anyhow.

Just wondering if he calls bev and asks to transfer the account to me fully how that will work?

One reason i want to do this and not start a new account is so i can use the 5+ years of this account to get the retentions department to give me the best deals i can get on all HD stuff.

If you resquest a TRANSFER to your name they will close the existing account 30 days after your dad called and open a new one under your name. You will be charged a 35$ transfer rate. You will also have to install the equipement or pay a tech 75$ for the first receiver and 50$ per other receiver.

What you may want to do instead is to keep the current account, change the billing name to your name. The account will still be under your dad's name, but the bills will come under your name. All the history will remain, if you speak with the retention departement you will be considered a loyal client. There is no fee to change billing name. You can also mention that your dad is moving in with you, and need a move. They will come to your house, install a brand new dish and the first receiver free of charge. They will charge you 50$ per other receiver.

perfect
thanks thats what i will do i think...

but when i go to get new stuff installed in my house how do they activate the recievers and stuff in my house when it is his account still and i live 2 provinces away? plus if i want to call in and change stuff how do i do that?

i dont mind paying the transfer fee if thats all it takes to get it fully in my name also....but will that void the account history

Simply say that your dad is moving in with you and from now on you will be responsible for all his bills... They will ask t speak with Dad in orer to confirm that he gives you the responsability of the bill (same if you were to select the transfer option). They will then add you name as the BILL TO person and put your adress there. They will then book the move order. Since it's in 2 different provinces they will close the existing account and open a new one cause they need to change what they call the agent code, feature the determine the sales tax they will charge and also the time that your guide will display. There will be a note on the account linking it to the old account therefore keeping your history with the compagny.

If you want to have everything under your name, what you should request is a TRANSFER of account. They will need to speak to dad to confirm that he allows the transfer, then will open an order for is account to be close 30 days from the day of the call. They will charge you 35$ transfer charge, and you will have to pay the installation. The client history won't follow, you will be considered a new client for the retention departement. You won't get any proo or deal

A third option... You mention that you might get HD. What you can do is get that HD receiver and sign a 2 year contract to be able to get free install and new client's promo. On the installation day you could even ask the tech to add the extra lines for the receivers your dad will give you, each line will be 50$. In the meantime, your dad calls to cancel his account and mentions on that call that he gives you the receivers. 30 days later you take them, activate them on your account and when you sell them you just call back EV to tell them so that the person could activate it.

everything is taken care of thanks

got a great deal and it will be fully in my name after the install dates of the 9242

i would have just started off as new...any "retention" offer is generally what they give a "new" customer anyway...besides, a little extra bonus won't be worth the hassle of calling every month for a year to get whatever "extra" they promised you anyway...good luck getting what you are supposed to.
