Trainspotting - is the version on TV the original release?

Watched Trainspotting on Film Four a couple of days ago. I hadn't seen it since its initial cinema release and it seemed a bit different so I looked it up on imdb. There are various alternative versions listed on there but I can't figure out if the one on on Film Four is the original or not because I can't remember the fine details from that long ago! For example I didn't remember the subtitles in the bar scene, and there seemed to be no point in them, but were they always there?

So does anyone know for sure?

I watched it the other night too. The version we saw on Film Four was the original version, the same as you get on the DVD nowadays. There is a special edition version available with extra scenes, but you have to press a button on your remote to watch them at certain points in the film, they are not seamlessly branched back into the film. I have this copy of the film but with all the button pressing just to view a deleted scene, it wasn't worth it so I watched them seperately after the film was over. There is an even longer edition of the film out there somewhere, the first DVD's presed had the eleted scenes and some scenes never meant to be seen included as part of the main film, now that would be worth seeing!

The bar scene has always had the subtitles as far as I remember.

Paddy :D
