Training for army pt test?

I'm considering joining the army and I want to get more fit to be able to do well on the pt test and just to do well in basic in general.

any tips on how to train with the running and the push ups? (I'm fine with situps)

I can run 2 miles in 20 minutes without stopping but I want to get under 15. How do I build up to this?

Also, I have HORRIBLE upper body strength. I want to be able to do the pushups. I have a weight set and I'm part of a gym so I have access to all of their equipment too.
