Trading in M50 for a bandit 1250

I'm gonna do this in a few weeks as I want something a bit more sporty and the new bandit 1250 looks awesome. Any thoughts?

My thoughts: Nice bike. Huge jump from the little 800, though. Have you ever thought about just having two bikes though? One cruiser and one standard/sporty bike?

how does that song go? "if I was a rich man....da da da da da da daaaa da".

I wish I could but just trading up to the bandit will be hard enough :)

It's going to be tough parting with the M50, there cold be tears

+1 .. i wanted to cry and almost held back handing in the keys but like Rowdy said "tears will dry quickly once you crack that throttle".

Cornell I've been thinking of making the same move you made. That Bandit 1250 seems like just the thing I want. The M50 being my first bike is one I'll always remember, so maybe I'll just buy a cheap older Bandit 650 until I can pay off the M50 and have 2 bikes :)

Why Clint! I'm surprised you don't know!!

Not every bike offers you a painful ride experience that is forgone for the opportunity to look "cool" going down the boulevard. With our loud pipe, car alarm settin' off, no power havin', socially irresponsible V-Twins totin' our non gear ridin' havin' to compensate for something butts around!

What do I ride? A cruiser sir!! :bluethum:

All kidding aside.....go for the Bandit man! I've sat on a new 1250 and I like it almost as much as the V-Strom.

Yea, my plan was to keep the M50 but do to some costly emergency repairs to the house it kept me from keeping the M50. When i traded in the M50 i thought i would miss it a ton but honestly its been a month and have no regrets nor do i miss it. The used 650 bandit sounds like a plan or even a used 1250 bandit. I've seen a bunch of used 1250 bandits in my area with low mileage and like new for peanuts. Then trade up for a new resigned ABS FI bandit  once the M50 is paid off for. If i didn't have much 2up riding in my plans i would have went towards a Triumph Speed Triple or the redesigned Kawasaki 2007 Z1000.

Let us know if you make the move ... good luck.

Hmm... that Bandit 1250 sounds like a nice replacement for the M50. I've thought about trading up the M50 myself. I've always wanted a Honda RC51, but I'll be taking a really close look at the SV1000S as a more practical, lower cost alternative.

Hang in there! April 07 will be here soon enough. If you haven't done so, try contacting your dealer and see if they can reserve a Bandit for you.

I'd argue that a standard or touring bike is far more comfortable than a cruiser. Having all my weight bouncing up my spine is just plain not good. The best compromise is some on the legs, some on the arms and some on the butt.

:plus1:

Standard/Sport Touring bike is far more comfortable than a Cruiser or Super Sport bike.

I really like the looks of the 1250. Wish I could talk the wife into letting me have a second bike! Not tired of my V-Strom yet.

This one isn't available in the U.S. though is it?
