trading bikes to go from cruiser to sport?

I have a 2002 shadow spirit 750 and its an awesome bike but I want a sport bike really really bad. the bike was a gift from my dad so i had no say. I would like to trade it for a sport bike (with minimal expense so of similar value) where can I find a place that will do this and is it probable? I really would like to get onto something like a CBR or a ninja
