Track Day Dilema

Heres the dilema. I have been wanting to do another track day for some time now. I have been on the track once before at Road Atlanta with a borrowed SV650S (so I took it a little bit easy). When I bought my 09 Ducati 1198, I held onto my previous bike with the intentions of turning it into my track bike. It is an SV650S that I have put A LOT of work into; it has a GSX-R 750 front end, GSX-R 1000 rear shock, Honda F3 rear wheel, M4 full race exhaust. So it could be a worthy track weapon (in the right hands LOL). But I dont know if I will be able to finish it to pass the tech inspection in time... And meanwhile my 1198 is begging to get onto the track. The track day is at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the Classic Course on April 11th. Any thoughts?

Agreed!

Although the SV sounds like a nice track bike, if it not ready, it's not ready. So, if you're really dying to hit the track, take the 1198. At least invest in a set of track fairings for the the Duc

The big thing with the SV is the parts I need to acquire before its good to go. The list includes bodywork, brake pads, and brake lines. If I buy these parts on my next paycheck, the track day looks questionable. The other minor fixes will most likely take me a day or two.

A friend has a 1098 he wants to get on the track to see if he enjoys track days. Are race fairings and sliders about all you need to get started in track days? Is there anything that should be done prior to getting on the track? If he enjoys it, he'll invest more in the setup.
