Toyota Yaris Speedometer?

I did my driving test in a yaris and the limit was 50 km/hr and i was goin 53km/hr...tester then tried to lean over but he still couldnt see it!!so he asked me what speed i was doing and i was like...47km/hr!!ha!!brilliant!!:)

Only Toyota designers know this! It a bit like looking down a periscope and the speedo cannot be easily seen by the passenger. Bit of a drag for driving schools!

I have a yaris and the speedo functions OK though. Good visibility of speedo for driver-- not impeded by steering wheel spokes.

The Toyota designers thought that if you put the speedo in the middle then you would concentrate more on the road ahead than if it was in front of you like most cars. It is not the only car out there with this configuration. Some Citroen cars do as well.
