Toyota Yaris, Matrix vs. Pontiac Vibe?

I am trying to buy a cheap gas friendly reliable car as mine past away last weekend. I know the site usualy goes 50-50 between american and jap. cars so I just really would like to know if any one of these break/need repair more often?
 
Eric is sorta right. The Vibe is a GM product with Toyota engine and trans. The rest of the crap is all GM
