A truck I am interested in is the Toyota Tacoma. I love driving Manuals... but when I look at the specs of the same vehicle but one Manual and the other Automatic, the manual is 18/20 and the auto is 18/21. I thought that manual always gave better MPG than automatics if driven right? The manual is also a 5 speed and the automatic is a 4 speed so this is really confusing me. Does anyone know why this is?

These are helpful answers, but if I drive a manual correctly would I still get the same MPG as the automatic? (At least 18/21?)
