I have a 2000 Camry solara that was purchased with the RS3000 security system installed by the previous owner. The Keyless remote does not function properly. The dealer replaced the battery and was able to hold down some buttons for a couple seconds and got it to work. It only worked for a few days. It was able to open and lock doors from the outside and the alarm chirped. It's back to not working. Will not open or lock doors from outside. When the key is in the ignition and the button is pressed it will open the doors only.
Where do I begin to fix this problem? The red button lights up when the keys are pressed. The power locks seem to work fine on their own. Does this look like an issue with the keyless remote? or an issue with the alarm system? How should I go about this? DIfferent toyota dealers have told me different things. This is a 9 year old car and I'm trying to solve this issue the most cost effective and sensical way that I can. Thanks.
