Toyota MR2 Spyder transmission question?

Can someone tell me a bit about the 2002 and up transmission on the MR2? I have been thinking on getting one some time, as I like the looks of this car. My wife would much rather have an automatic, it would be a deal-breaker actually. But I hear the 02 and newer have sequential shifting and NO clutch pedal, how does this work out for someone like my wife who would rather avoid a manual trans?
In looking around on eBay it would seem like this was an option, not standard???
