I have a UK model 1997 toyota landcruiser colorado 3.0 td..It uses no water but if i tow over some distance or drive over 60mph it starts to overheat..if i slow down the temp drops back down to normal..the fan is turning fine,it uses no water, the heater works and no sludge in oil etc..driving round town etc is fine..anyone had this problem..thanks
I have changed the water in the rad- how can i check circulation is ok

I had probs with my old jaguar.. had to get rid in the end.. it would be okay on a short drive but overheat on motorways.. temp gauge would go right up everytime.. get rid of it or it will cost ya a small fortune

Sounds like a new radiator, if the elements in the rad are fully corroded they wont let any coolent threw, the landcruiser will easily run at 50mph with minimum coolant because of the way its designed.
From what you have said it sounds like lack of coolant circulation in the rad.
Also when the coolant is running through the system, can you see it flowing threw the coolant bottle from the top.

Has the cooling system ever been flushed and new coolant installed? You have a 12 almost 13 year old vehicle and it sounds like you have very poor circulation in the rad, which by now may also need replacing. good luck

When you drive the car for a while just test the top of the radiator to see if the flow is ok (check for even temp). You would be better off getting some rad flush to clear any blocked fins. Or if you can completely take the rad off and give it a good flush. All the best
