my sister bought a 1999 duet a couple of months ago and couple of days later there was a constant squeaking noise....took it back to the dealer and they needed to change the belt....it was fine after that but a couple of days later it started up again but this time the dealer said it happens bcoz dust tends to get caught in the belt.......is that right???

if the air conditioner isnt on when it starts in the morning there isnt any noise but it gets really noisy after it is but a couple of day later even with the air con off the noise was still goin on!

what the hells wrong? its driving us crazy!
appreciate any help!
thanx

Your fan belt travels around your water pump, harmonic balancer, altenator, air-con unit, and possibly power steering. Look along the fan belt (from the side of the car) and make sure all the pulley wheels are in alignment. Usually the adjustment you will be able to do is via the alternator. Good luck

hi .. this is what i would do.
i would go to my local car parts store and get a belt dressing and apply it to the belt, engine off.
but if you deside to go to the dealer, go to a different toyo dealer for a second oppinion. or, go to a dependable independent automotive shop for the second look, if the dealer you went to ,dont have the ommmph to solve your problem.
