toyota corolla keyless entry?

I have a toyota corolla 2006 le and i cant figure out why when i lock or unlock the car the horn does not sound or beep or... It has a factory installed key-less entry system. i have tryed holding the unlock and lock at the same time and that does not work i just need to activate the beep like on my 4runner i cant find the information i have looked on toyotas web site and on randome web sites help please thanks
