This morning, I tried to start my 96 toyota camry car (80K miles) and it would not start. It seems to create regular engine sound for first half a second but then it was just cranking.
When I look under the hood nothing seems to be moving when I try to start my car. The cranking noise is coming from engine.
I tried for 4-5 times (each time I tried for about 5 seconds).
I did not press accelerator while trying to start.
So, what do you think is wrong with my car and what other things I can try. If I cannot do anything, then I will tow.
I had used my car about 30 hours back and last thing I had done was filling the gas before I came home.
Thanks DW and mrthreee for your replies. I just reached my home. Now after checking it seems more wierd...
when I check engine oil in dipstick (yellow color knob), I was surprised to see no oil. So I added one quart to engine. Now the line 1/3 way from the min level. I need to buy more to add.
The cranking sound I have not heard before i.e when the car was running properly.
I guess I will have to call a mechanic.
