I just bought a used 98 Camry with 180,000 kilometers on it. I have only had it a month and I have fueled twice. The first time I gassed up, the idling was going haywire, up and down and I had to really press down on the accelerator to keep the car going. I pulled to the side of the road and the engine stalled on me.
I took my car to mechanic, he said there were two "soft codes" on my car, P0105 and P0172. He said he was not able to determine the problem, the car was working fine.
Just yesterday, I went to gas up and when I went to start the car, the engine would not turn over. I had to really hit the accelerator to the floor to get the engine to turn. I got it in gear and peeled out of the station just to move the car to the side. As I slowed, the car stalled again, the idling going crazy.
I waited 5 minutes then started the car again, really revving it up. I took my foot off the accelerator and it seemed to be OK. It's been like that since, the problem has not come back.
This only seems to be occurring when I put gas in the car. What seems to be the problem?
