I have a 1996 toyota 4runner v6 3.0 L. I have had this following episode twice. The engine starts to run hot, I turn on the heater(air is hot), The temperature then drops to Normal but then it fluctuates between normal and hot. It never enters the red zone. I check the radiator reservoir and it's low so I added water and got the car home. It continued to fluctuate after adding water and I kept the heater on the whole time. This morning my husband drives it to work and it ran fine. Now this has happened twice. Could it be the thermostat? I do not see any obvious leakage anywhere. The car runs fine otherwise. Any thoughts would be appreciative. Thanks.
