I went and test drove a 1994 toyota 4 runner 149k miles.
3.0 engine.
it started fine and sounded normal. owner stated mechanic said it was ok and compression check was good. i drove it and as soon as i put my foot on the accelerator you could hear a ticking noise.
it sounded like some serious valve tick, but why would a mechanic say it was ok? besides the fact they could be lying ?
owner said truck uses 1 qt oil every 1000 miles but mechanic said it isnt leaking or burning it.
