im swapping my old engine of 400,000 plus for a new engine with only 125,000. here are the differences. my truck is a 1986 2wd 22re the engine im getting is a 1991 4x4 22re i will be using my 1986 22re ECU. will i have to change out the intake from my old engine and put it on my new engine.(intake is like brand new and all sensors are good on the 1986 engine.) or can i just leave everything alone and drop the engine in. will i have to use a 2wd clutch from 1986 or is that the same as well
i do not have the ECU for the newer 91 engine.

Isnt the 91 fuel injected? If so you would be ahead to install the ENTIRE 91 motor plus FI,sensors and the 91 ecu,if your just wanting to change motor(block)I dont think there different.I swapped a 22re fuel injected into an 84 4x4 that was carbed before swap.
