Touring Tire Issues

I was having so much touble with wobbling and lack of control of the bike that I took it to the dealer in New Orleans and got a new tire for free with no problem.

I already had the 408 on my 09 SG when I bought it in Aug, but I know what you mean about dealers not knowing about bulletins. I tried in inquire my dealer about the seat denting the fender and they had no clue what I was talking about. Said he looked it up and only the tank recall had any bulletin on my bike. You would think they have a central data base for these.

ARRRRRRRRGH - I JUST WANT TO SCREAM!!!!! This is similar to my story and I envy the forum members who's been able to just walk-in, get satisfaction and walk-out with a new front tire!! Seems my local dealers (3 out of 3....so far) are making this SO DAMNED HARD to get this resolved. In each case, I need to have the service manager do the evaluation before anything can be done or a tire can be ordered (not in stock???) and he/she is only there certain times. Of course, I show-up and they aren't there or aren't available!!! I just shot over to the dealer near my office and they look at me like I have two heads when I mention the '09 touring front tire issue and the bulletin. Hello!!.....where the hell have you been!? Then I get the "we need to do the evaluation", it'll take a few hours and you'll need to leave the bike. "A few hours" to check the tire pressure and do 3 tread measurements!.....just to see whether they can do anything for me? They are making follow-up to this bulletin nearly impossible and in the meantime I'm riding around on a Fred Flinstone tire. I was hoping to wait for the American Elites to be available, but that won't be until the end of Sept and I don't think I can wait that long, so I may need to concede to this frustrating process!!!!

never received a letter but after noticing some cupping on my front tire did some research on this forum. called my dealer they changer it out no question asked. had 11500 miles on it. also the changer front rotors and brake pads free of charge.

Odd thing, when I had my front tire replaced due to a nail (thank you ESP), the dealer replaced the 408 on my 2010 with a 407. 6,000 miles so far, and no issues.

Just had my front tire replaced by Harley on my '09 Street Glide with 9500 miles on it. It seems the series 407 tire is the problem and it replaced with the series 408. Just tell the dealer that the front tire shimmies about 30mph and you want tire replaced under warranty. they were most cooperative.

FINALLY got the replacement 408 put on today...no charge. Managed to hit just thr right circumstances - not busy & right people there. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket today!

I have a 2010 street glide with 8900 mils and been having the same problems listted here and my dealer keeps saying it is a normale noise.
Is anyone with a 2010 having this problem ????
