Tour Pack Luggage Rack Washers....

American motorcycle accessories in a vendor on that site. I realize they were local to me so i went down and bought these today. Has anybody else used this product and what did they think?
In the package they look a lot better then the stock plastic washers that came with the rack. They have 2 sizes available these are the small ones.

And what Torque do you tighten the 4 rack bolts to? I can't find a spec in the manual or instructions. I have them torqued to 20in lbs

60-84 in. lbs according to HD's installation instructions for the premium tour pak luggage rack:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloads/Service/isheets/-J00627.pdf

HD's been putting the installation instructions on their website for a year or so for many accessories so that's a good place to look for information, e.g. torque values, etc.

Thank you french i appreciate that. I looked for the instruction sheet In the parts and accessories Section of the website but i did not find it there. Where are the instruction sheet at?

AFRetired,

I threw the package away Im sorry! I left the receipt at my office I will check and see if it is on there.

I would hold off on ordering these for the time being. I installed them and was in the process of torquing them to 60-80 in lbs per the manual and realized it wasnt gong to work. Anything above 20 in lbs and the rubber washers would squeeze completely out.

I e mailed a photo to the company and talked to them this morning and they are going to have their Tech look at it and call me back. It looks like the rubber they use is Way Too Soft! I went and bought Nylon Washers and installed it with that and it worked perfect. The stock rack uses plastic so it shouldnt be a problem.

I will post pics later.

I am very confused about this.....Why would you have to use a torque wrench at all?
Cant you just snug them up with a socket and call it a day? If you are worried they will come loose add a little lock tight on them or a lock washer.....WTF...Lets not over think this thing....It's a luggage rack for god's sakes....... o~`o.................

Well i think i finally have reason for a HDForum poll...How many of you guys check the tension on your tour pack rack bolts and consider it a good maintenance practice? I open my tour pack...Look at bolts, see there is 4 there, and move on to all the other very important bolts that need to be checked and torqued on my regular good maintenance practice.
I have always been able to sleep at night knowing that if one or two of my bolts ever came loose,I would be able to find them....Without looking to hard..
I am sleepless in Chicago....BUT this is not the reason!!!!
